Books Read in 2019
Year in Review » Wow, 3 whole books! Fantastic! I bought a Kindle this year, which means I actually read more this year than in the past years (although I used it more to read Manga, oops!). Seriously, I read 2 books the 2 previous years. I am not even exaggerating. It’s kind of a shame that this year’s list is so negative, but hey, I try to be as honest as I possibly can.
NOTE: I am a very slow reader. I know. Don’t expect these lists to be long lol.

Name | Year | Writer(s) | Genre(s) | Goodreads | Review | Score |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Blood of Elves (The Witcher #3) | 1994 | Andrzej Sapkowski | Fantasy / Action / Adventure | Open | ObservationI started reading this series because a Polish friend of mine advised me to before I played the games. The first two books of this series are mostly short stories (excluding the end of the 2nd book which begins the overall storyline) surrounding Geralt of Rivia, the Witcher. The short stories are so good. The only big problem I have with these books, which begins the overarching story, is that the story is too slow-moving. This book could most likely be rewritten to fit a third of the pages it has. Also, I know on Goodreads it says this is "The Witcher #1" because it's the first one telling the continued story, but to me, this is and will always be the third book. | 06/10 |
Roadside Picnic | 1972 | Arkady Strugatsky, Boris Strugatsky | Sci-Fi | Open | ObservationI love the movie that is based in this book, "Stalker". I actually didn't know the movie was based in a book until a friend of mine told me. I knew immediately that I had to read it. I loved 80% of this book, but then... it just ended. I felt empty inside. It was like being 5 years old, eating a Kinder Surprise and then finding out that the toy egg inside is empty. | 04/10 |
Time of Contempt (The Witcher #4) | 1995 | Andrzej Sapkowski | Fantasy / Action / Adventure | Open | ObservationThis book suffers from the exact same problems as the predecessor. I am enjoying the overall story, I just wished it would move a bit faster. Hanging on to the words that the friend who recommended me this series said: "it gets better from the 5th book". | 06/10 |
